DESCRIPTION - ACCEPTED STUDENTS CATEGORIES: Those admitted to the Master’s degree in Applied Developmental Psychology are:
(A) 70% of graduates of undergraduate programmes: Psychology, formerly the departments of Philosophy-Pedagogy-Psychology with specialization in Psychology.
(B) 20% of graduates of undergraduate programmes: Nursery Education, Primary Education, Special Education, Education & Care in Early Childhood (formerly Pre-school or Early Childhood Education), Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, as well as former departments of Philosophy and Educational Psychology with specialization in Philosophy or Pedagogy, and the Department of Philosophy & Social Studies of the University of Crete, as well as the Department of Philosophy & Social Studies of the University of Crete. A prerequisite for the participation of candidates from all the above mentioned departments in this category is the successful completion of at least three (3) Psychology courses, which will be documented by a copy of a detailed grade report or a relevant certificate. If the requirement of three (3) psychology courses is not met, the candidate may be placed in the graduate (C) group.
(C) 10% graduates of any department of any university with the following requirements: (i) Undergraduate Degree Programmes with successful completion of at least three (3) Psychology courses, which will be documented by a copy of a detailed grade report or relevant certificate, either
(ii) Undergraduate Programmes of Studies with successful attendance of at least two (2) Psychology courses, which will be documented by a copy of a copy of a detailed grade or a relevant certificate, and additionally a certificate of successful attendance of module EKP50 Child Development in Families, Schools and Society” of the postgraduate programme “Education (Med)" of the Hellenic Open University, or
(iii) Postgraduate Programmes of Studies relevant to the subject of Psychology, or
(iv) Postgraduate Programmes of Studies related to the subject of Pedagogy, with the condition of successful completion of at least two (2) psychology courses in the relevant MSc.
It is clarified that the applications of interested graduates who belong to category C, whose undergraduate study program may include PEDAGOGICAL or SOCIOLOGICAL CONTENT courses without having, however, successfully attended at least three (3) psychology courses will be rejected as the affinity of the scientific disciplines and areas it is not a criterion of similarity of knowledge objects and in this sense no course of pedagogical or sociological content replaces a course of psychological content and vice versa. Scientific areas are distinct.
Successful completion of psychology courses, whether at undergraduate or postgraduate level, is always documented by a copy of an analytical score or a relevant certificate from the respective Secretariat.
Note:
Holders of a degree or diploma of higher education means graduates of Greek Universities or Polytechnics or Higher School of Fine Arts or Higher School of Pedagogical and Technological Education or Higher Technological Educational Institutions (ATEI) or those who hold academically equivalent first cycle degrees from recognized foreign educational institutions with the degrees awarded by the Greek Higher Educational Institutions, in accordance with the provisions of article 304 of Law No. 4957/2022 (Government Gazette 141/21.07.2022, vol.)
Marking:
For the evaluation of the application to the Postgraduate Studies Programme, it will be examined whether the candidate's institution of study is or may be included in the National Register of Recognised Higher Education Institutions of Foreign Countries and whether the candidate's degree is or may be included in the National Register of Types of Degrees of Recognised Institutions of Foreign Countries.
The Hellenic Open University, if the degree is included in the list of article 307 of Law No. 4957/2022, must request a "Certificate of Place of Study", which is issued and sent by the foreign university. If the place of study or part of the studies is confirmed as the Greek territory, the degree is not recognized, unless the part of the studies that took place in the Greek territory is in a public higher education institution or in a recognized foreign educational institution within the meaning of paragraph b) of article 299 of Law No. 4957/2022.
