Description

The MSc in Economics equips students to analyze the decisions of individuals and firms using microeconomic tools such as consumer theory, production theory, and game theory. It also provides a strong foundation in modern macroeconomic analysis and the interaction between macro- and microeconomics. Students gain both theoretical and practical exposure to econometrics, using modern models, techniques, and advanced statistical and computational resources. The program emphasizes Macroeconomic Theory, Microeconomic Theory and Applied Microeconomics, Theoretical and Applied Econometrics, Finance Theory and Asset Pricing, Industrial Organization, Public Economics, Game Theory, International Economics, Environmental and Energy Economics, Mathematical Economics, Labor Economics, and Economic Development. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in major private and public organizations, including banks and public authorities in Greece and abroad. They may also continue to Ph.D. studies, pursuing careers in academia, research institutes, Central Banks, and related fields.

Graduates of university departments of economics and other related subjects (Finance, International & European Economic Studies, Economic & Regional Development, etc.), as well as graduates of Departments of Natural Sciences (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Informatics, etc.) are eligible.

Duration: 3 or 4 academic semesters, depending on whether students choose to undertake a dissertation or take extra courses instead.

Graduates of the Program are employed in large companies and organizations of private and public sector (such as Bank of Greece, Ministry of Finance, Hellenic Statistical Authority, European Central Bank, Ernst & Young, ΙΒΜ, etc) or continue for PhD studies in top Universities (such as Yale, MIT, Princeton, Harvard, LSE, etc) to later hold academic and research positions in universities and research institutes (such as University of Chicago, Birmingham Business School, AUEB, etc).
