The Department of English Language and Literature in collaboration with the Department of Philology and the Department of Russian Language and Literature and Slavic Studies organizes the interdepartmental MA (IMA) “Translation: Greek, English, Russian” aims at training postgraduate students in language transfer between Greek, English and Russian by focusing on the specifics of their linguistic make-up and on the interaction of the respective cultures, as it is manifested through translation of various genres.
Objective:
The interdepartmental MA aims at advancing students’ undergraduate linguistic background by broadening their intercultural perspective towards languages and cultures which the cooperating Departments do not offer, on their own. It thus creates more attractive employees in the field of translation and advances the intercultural potential of the Departments in the field of intercultural studies.
It addresses students with excellent knowledge of all three languages (Greek, English, Russian) which allows further exploration of the three linguistic systems and of the transfer strategies between them in translation practice.
The Program awards a Postgraduate Degree (PSD/ΔΜΣ) in Translation between Greek, English and Russian, equivalent to an MA.
