Holders of a first-cycle degree from the School of Medicine and other departments of a related subject (departments of the School of Health Sciences, Biology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Sociology) in Greece or from similar institutions recognized by the NARIC abroad, as well as graduates of related higher education departments in Greece or from similar institutions recognized abroad.
By introducing the postraduate medical studies' program "Geriatric Syndromes and Physiology of Aging", the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens introduces Greek medical trainees to the field encompassing 1) the study of molecular and cellular mechanisms of senescence, 2) the approach to diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the cardinal medical problems of older age, also known as geriatric syndromes, 3) the nuances of primary and inpatient care of older adults. The program aims to equip healthcare professionals with the ability to provide high quality, holistic medical care to senior citizens, and spur research towards a better understanding of aging physiology and improved geriatric outcomes.
