Description

The MSc in Archaeological Science is a joint postgraduate program organized by the Department of History and Archaeology and the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The program has also signed a Memorandum of Collaboration with The Malcolm Η. Wiener Laboratory for Archaeological Science of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, for exchanges of faculty members, scholars and students, and the mutual use of facilities. The program is designed to provide advanced theoretical knowledge as well as practical experience about the major applications of science in archaeology.

The program is addressed to:
1. holders of BA in archaeology, humanities and classics wishing to learn how to apply science-based approaches to the study of archaeological evidence, including the environment and the material culture of the past, and
2. holders of BSc in science subjects, such as geology, physics, chemistry, biology, materials science, and conservation of antiquities and works of art, wishing to learn archaeological research issues and questions, which can be approached through scientific methods of analysis.
