This program offers the following areas of specialization:
Environmental Sciences
The Department of Geology and Geoenvironment, NKUA, is involved in the postgraduate joint program "Master in Paleobiology, Geoconservation and Applied Paleontology" (PANGEA) under the frames of Erasmus Mundus Program.
PANGEA is based on the fundamental partnership of 4 Universities from 4 counties:
-Lille 1 University-program coordinator (UL, France),
-University of Minho (UM, Portugal),
-National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA, Greece),
-Uppsala University (UU, Sweden).
The Department of Geology and Geoenvironment, NKUA is involved in this joint program through the Postgraduate program “Earth Sciences and Environment”, specialization: Climate Variations and Impact on the Environment.
PANGEA is the first and unique Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Paleontology aiming to enhance quality in higher education through scholarships and academic cooperation between Europe and the rest of the world. The aim of the program is to qualify students to a level of excellence in one of the three specialized fields of Earth Sciences:
-“Paleobiology”, with research orientation,
-“Applied Paleontology”, oriented to the industrial applications of paleontology, e.g. in hydrocarbon research, and
-“Geodiversity”, oriented to geotechnical protection, geological heritage and the science outreach.
