DESCRIPTION - ACCEPTED STUDENTS CATEGORIES:
This program focuses on the study of science, technology and medicine from a perspective that combines the whole range of the human and the social sciences (history, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, economics, political science, policy, etc.). Upon successful completion of this 1-year program (2-semester, 60 ECTS), graduates receive an MSc diploma from NKUA and, also, an additional MA diploma or certificate from the European Master's Program on Society, Science and Technology (ESST). ESST offers many STS Specializations through the partnership of universities from all around Europe.
Objective: The Program brings in contact Science and Technology Studies to many other areas of disciplinary and interdisciplinary study, including Innovation Studies, Policy Studies, Cultural Studies, Museum Studies, Communication Studies, Media Studies, Gender Studies, Migration Studies, Disability Studies as well as the Digital Humanities, the Environmental Humanities and the Bio/Medical Humanities.
Its graduates are able to analyze, interpret, intervene and make recommendations on issues of relevance to science, technology and medicine; identify the best policy choices regarding research, development and innovation; and elaborate on ethical and legal issues involved in science, technology and medicine. They are uniquely prepared to contribute to issues emerging from scientific and technological fields connected to: informatics and telecommunications; the environmental crisis; biology, medicine, biotechnology and biomedical technology.
