During the first two semesters students attend courses credited with 60 ECTS totally. In the third semester students prepare their Master's Thesis on a research project, which is credited with 30 ECTS. Totally the completion of 90 ECTS and attendance of three semesters are required. The aim of the programme is to prepare well-skilled scientific staff for both the scientific research in electrochemical systems and service in fields critical for the economic development. The scientific field of Electrochemistry (interconversion between chemical and electrical energy) is related with many applications such as the production of chemicals, processing of materials, protection of environment, chemical analysis and certainly with the energy production and storage. In most cases, electrochemical techniques and processes are environmentally friendly («green») and more efficient in comparison with the conventional ones. Examples of areas where the expertise of the graduates is required are Chemical Industry, Batteries Industry, Center for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving, Public Administration, Education, Research Institutes, Public Organizations and Agencies, State Chemical Laboratories and specialized Analytical Laboratories, In addition to the scientific knowledge, the graduates acquire the ability for criticism and self-criticism, as well as the ability to seek, analyze and synthesize data and information, to work independently or in groups, to generate new ideas, to promote free productive and inductive thinking.
